This blog will bring you notes and essays on carpentry and it’s philosophy. Witness the journey from another perspective…

My father is a craftsman and therefore I was immersed in many crafts from a young age. Photography, sketching, drafting, sculpting, silversmithing and woodworking are some of the things I have learned from him.

At a certain stage I decided to reorient myself professionally. I started working with a joiner in Belgium and eventually ended up in California working for a leading company specialized in Traditional Japanese Carpentry. There I received intense training by some very skilled craftsmen who spared no effort to pass on our trade.

At the moment I am running my own small business OostenWind in Belgium where I reside for the time being. I also teach and organize workshops both in Belgium and elsewhere in Europe.
